Partners in Art — Mona Farm x Arts-Matter

Mona Farm are proud partners of Arts-Matter, a community for the culturally curious and the creatively minded. Here at Mona Farm, Australian art is part of our D.N.A, so when the opportunity came up to partner with Arts-Matter, well, we jumped at it. Here’s a few words from Co-Founder, Susan Armstrong.

Arts-Matter members were invited for a weekend of culture and creativity at the beautiful Mona Farm, located within the heritage listed town of Braidwood in rural NSW. Mona Farm is a luxury estate, with a diverse collection of modern Australian and International art and sculpture, creating an unparalleled collision of art and nature.

The weekend was filled with bespoke art experiences and workshops, and accompanied by great food, drinks and conversation. We began our Saturday with a tour around the spectacular estate to get our creative juices flowing before we took our places by the Croquet Lawn for an En Plein Air painting class, hosted by Louis Wayling, in the most picture-perfect setting by the lake.

We then headed back to Tidmarsh for a hearty and delicious lunch prepared for us by Mona Farm, followed by a group huddle with the features editor of RUSSH and the founder of Words of Note Anna Harrison to brief us on how to write a Haiku, inspired by our experiences on the property.

Finally, a group cooking workshop was held in the barn at Tidmarsh, with Heleena Trahanas from Alex & Trahanas, where we got our hands dirty and made spinach gnocchi from scratch for us all to enjoy for dinner, and beautifully presented on Alex & Trahanas ceramics.

About Arts-Matter

Arts-Matter is a nexus of cultural activity, a leading proponent of the idea that curiosity is the key to creativity, and innovation often happens when our community of traditionally siloed worlds collide.

It’s the award-winning multi-media artist speaking to her friend and sculptor ahead of their AGNSW installation; or the fashion maven who designed the costumes for The Sydney Dance Company in conversation with the organization’s artistic director, and the wunderkind hip hop prodigy answering questions about their cultural legacy and performing to an invited audience at Arts-Matter’s headquarters ahead of their sold out Sydney shows.

Arts-Matter brings together the brightest and boldest creative talent from across the globe to educate and entertain our community of culturally curious members.
