Why our 'Signature Wedding Experience' includes a Friday wedding

There’s a few reasons why our Mona Farm ‘Signature Wedding Experience’ includes a Friday wedding. We sat down with one of our past Mona Farm couples, Elly and Lachlan, to break down what those reasons are.

Here’s five reasons to get married on a Friday, as told by Elly & Lach.

one — an early check-in

One of the best decisions we made was to check-in to Mona Farm a few nights ahead of our guests. Given that it was midweek, Mona Farm had the availability to accommodate us in one of their best Guest Houses, The Homestead. We unpacked, settled in, drank some wine, enjoyed Tristan’s Guest House Menu and even spotted a shooting star. This time to ourselves really allowed us to relax, soak in the moment and prepare ourselves for the long weekend ahead.

TWO — A Long Weekend

We fell in love with Mona Farm three years before our wedding day so naturally, we ended up visiting the property a number of times in the lead up to the big day. Each time we visited the estate, we discovered something new - a hidden garden path, tennis court, new resident and even watched some of those fluffy residents grow up (Lisa is pictured below).

Right from the beginning, Lach & I knew that we wanted our guests to have the same journey of discovery that we did and enjoy as much of the property as possible. By having the wedding on a Friday and the recovery event on a Saturday, our guests had plenty of time to really make the most of their long weekend (animals, tennis court, gardens and all). Plus, they weren’t stressed about making it home with enough time to prepare for Monday morning. Some of our guests even extended their trip longer and explored more of the Southern Tablelands region.

Three — SUPPLIER AVAILABILITY

An underestimated benefit of getting married on a Friday is that it’s more likely your vendors will be available. We got married in April 2022 (arguably one of the busiest wedding seasons on record!) so we were very thankful we could still secure most of our first-picks.

four — that friday energy

There’s something about a Friday wedding that makes the energy electric. Having such a spectacular day on Friday, knowing that we still had all of Saturday and Sunday to go made it that much better. It’s as if we were all living on borrowed time - and we partied accordingly.

FIVE — The Recovery

THE best reason to get married on a Friday is that it means you get to save the best for last - The Recovery! The recovery day was so important to us and we really injected our personalities into it - personalised Spotify playlists, custom signage, morning mimosa’s, lawn games, Pimms station, outdoor barbeque with Tristan’s smoked brisket, boat rides, tennis tournaments, gelato cart - the works!

There was none of this ‘going home early’ business and everyone (including us) really let our hair down!

The wedding was great but the recovery exceeded all our guests expectations!
